 Honoring Yonatan Atinafu, 2026 State Social Studies Fair - Best In Class II for Economic
WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County Board of Education is committed to excellence in education and
             fostering a love of social studies, critical inquiry, and economic analysis in all our students;
             and a strong foundation in historical and socioeconomic research is essential for student
             success; and

WHEREAS:     Robert Shaw Theme School 5th-grade student, Yonatan Atinafu, demonstrated exceptional
             scholarship with his research project, "How did Georgia's economy change because of its
             contributions to World War I?"; and Yonatan successfully competed at the District and
             Regional Fairs, earning his place at the Georgia State Social Studies Fair; and

WHEREAS:     At the Georgia State Social Studies Fair held on April 25, 2026, at North Cobb High School in
             Kennesaw, Georgia, Yonatan was awarded the prestigious Best in Class II Economics Award
             as the top-scoring economics project in grades 5–6 across the entire state of Georgia, and
             he also won the state fair's top Agriculture Award, achievements made possible through his
             hard work and the dedicated guidance of his sponsoring teacher, Shanterrie Martin; and

THEREFORE: Be it known that the DeKalb County School District recognizes Yonatan Atinafu for his
           extraordinary academic achievements at the Georgia State Social Studies Fair and his
           exemplary representation of DeKalb County schools. The Board congratulates Yonatan, his
           sponsoring teacher Shanterrie Martin, and his family on this remarkable accomplishment.
