DeKalb County School District Communications Department International Recognition
WHEREAS: the DeKalb County School District Communications Department has earned international
recognition for excellence in storytelling, digital communications, and video production
during the 2025–2026 school year, receiving multiple prestigious awards that highlight the
department’s commitment to excellence in public education communications; and
WHEREAS: DCSD received a total of six Communicator Awards and two Silver Telly Awards, including
Awards of Excellence for the In The Know Podcast, Portrait of a Graduate Video, and DeKalb
Made Video featuring Board Member Mr. Diijon DaCosta Sr., as well as Awards of
Distinction for The Lunchroom Video, Double Trouble Web Story, and the Employee of the
Year Video featuring Mr. John Q. Kegler; and
WHEREAS: the Communicator Awards and Telly Awards are internationally respected programs that
recognize excellence, effectiveness, creativity, and innovation in communications and
media production, honoring outstanding work from organizations and professionals around
the world; and
WHEREAS: these award-winning projects exemplify the Communications Department’s dedication to
authentic, human-centered storytelling that celebrates students, staff, families, and schools
while strengthening community trust, fostering pride, and advancing the mission of the
DeKalb County School District through strategic communication and engagement; and
THEREFORE: BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the DeKalb County Board of Education hereby recognizes and
commends the DeKalb County School District Communications Department for its
outstanding achievement in earning eight international Communicator and Telly Awards
and joins staff, students, families, and citizens of DeKalb County in celebrating this
distinguished recognition of excellence in educational communications.
