     Honoring Kingston Johnson, National History Day –Outstanding Georgia Affiliate
WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County Board of Education is committed to fostering academic excellence and
             historical inquiry, and DeKalb School of the Arts student, Kingston Johnson, has
             demonstrated these ideals through his outstanding Senior Level Documentary, "Running
             Revolution," which masterfully addressed the 2026 National History Day theme,
             "Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History," by exploring how one individual revolutionized
             the sport of running; and

WHEREAS:     Kingston achieved 1st place victories at both the District and Regional levels, and secured a
             2nd place finish at the state level to advance to the National History Day Competition held
             June 14-18, 2026, at the University of Maryland in College Park, where he earned the
             prestigious "Senior Division - Outstanding Affiliate Award" for achieving the top score in the
             entire Senior Division for the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS:     These remarkable achievements and Kingston's exceptional academic journey were
             supported and nurtured by the guidance, mentorship, and dedication of his sponsoring
             teacher, Mrs. Carmella Blackmon;


THEREFORE: Be it known that the DeKalb County School District recognizes Kingston Johnson for his
           outstanding accomplishments in the National History Day Competition and his inspiring
           commitment to academic excellence, and the Board congratulates Kingston, his teacher
           Mrs. Carmella Blackmon, and his family on this highly distinguished honor.
