Request: It is requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education (“the Board”) approve the contract renewal of Bid 24-23 School Nutrition Bread Products to Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc., not to exceed the amount of $760,000 for SY 26-27.
Why: To ensure DeKalb County School District (DCSD) School Nutrition Services (SNS) provides healthy reimbursable meals to students that meet the Child Nutrition, USDA standards for meal pattern requirements.
Details: The contract award of ITB 24-28 was initially approved by the Board on June 10, 2024. The award is an initial one (1) year base year with four (4), one (1) year renewal options.
School Nutrition Services (SNS) requests to renew contract of Bid 24-28 for an additional year with the same terms and conditions as the original bid requirements. The renewal is effective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. This request is the second of four (#2 of 4) optional one (1) year renewals allowed.
Bread products provided by Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc., are delivered by the vendor to the schools.

ITB 24-23 School Nutrition Bread Products
Scope: Contract Renewal - School Nutrition Bread Products -ITB 24-
23 for SY26-27 to Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc.
Contract Term:
This is a contract with an initial one (1) year term of July 1, 2024, through
June 30, 2025, with four (4), one (1) year renewal options through June 30,
2029, subject to Board approval on an annual basis.
This request is the second of four (#2 of 4) renewal options.
Solicitation Process:
Bid 24-23 was competitively solicited through the Purchasing Department; it
was posted to the DCSD website and IonWave on February 8, 2024. The bid
was advertised in the Champion Newspaper on February 8, 2024 and
February 15, 2024. Electronic notification was sent to 2 vendors from the
DCSD vendor bid list. Electronic notification was sent to 82 vendors from the
DCSD IonWave. Electronic notification was also sent to 112 vendors through
the State of GA Procurement Registry. Two vendors responded to the
solicitation.
Award Process:
Two (2) bid(s) were reviewed and both were deemed responsive to
requirements of the solicitation by the Purchasing Department. School
Nutrition Services evaluation panel selected Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc. as the
more responsive and responsible bidder.
On June 10, 2024, the Board awarded the contract for ITB 24-23 to Bimbo
Bakeries USA, Inc., based on the recommendation.
