Recognition Pilar King Southwest DeKalb HS

             Pilar King – Southwest DeKalb High School – Swimming State Champion

WHEREAS:        The DeKalb County School District is dedicated to developing students academically and athletically.
                Southwest DeKalb senior swimmer Pilar King is committed to working hard and representing DeKalb
                athletics; and

WHEREAS:        King became one of 15 DeKalb swimmers to be a three-time champion with two gold medal victories
                at the 2026 GHSA Swim and Dive Championships; and

WHEREAS:        Under the direction of Coach Ayesha Epps, the Arizona State signee swam to the Class 4A 50-yard
                freestyle title with a time of 22.57 and the 100-yard backstroke gold with a time of 54.29 to go with
                her 100-meter backstroke gold in 2025; and

WHEREAS:        King set the new 50-yard freestyle record of 23.96 at the 2026 DeKalb County Swimming and Diving
                Championships and; as such,


THEREFORE:      We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, acknowledge the outstanding athletic accomplishments of
                Southwest DeKalb senior swimmer Pilar King for having achieved one of the highest levels attainable
                by a high school swimmer. In official recognition, we affix our signatures on this 11th day of May 2026.
