             Joseph Austin – Lakeside High School – GHSA State Wrestling Champion

WHEREAS:        The DeKalb County School District is dedicated to developing students academically and athletically.
                Lakeside High School senior wrestler Joseph Austin is committed to working hard and representing
                DeKalb athletics; and

WHEREAS:        Joseph Austin defeated South Effingham’s Andreo Manlove 10-4 to win gold in the 113-pound division
                at the 2026 GHSA Class 5A Traditional Wrestling Championships; and

WHEREAS:        Under the direction of Head Coach Dessen Bolton, Joseph Austin finished the season undefeated at
                42-0 and ended a 29-year gold medal drought for the Vikings; and

WHEREAS:        Austin also won the DeKalb County, Region 4-5A and Class 5A state sectional 113-division titles in his
                run to the championship; and as such,

THEREFORE:      We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, acknowledge the outstanding athletic accomplishments
                of the Lakeside High School senior wrestler Joseph Austin for having achieved one of the highest
                levels attainable by a high school wrestler. In official recognition, we affix our signatures on this 11th
                day of May 2026.
