National School Nurse Day 2026

                  ProclamationNATIONAL SCHOOL NURSE DAY 2026
WHEREAS:     Established in 1972, school nurses have served a cri cal role in improving public health and
             advancing the well-being, academic success, and life-long achievements for all students.
             School nurses improve a endance through health promo on, disease preven on, and
             disease management, helping students learn and thrive; and

WHEREAS:     School nurses func on as a liaison to the school community, parents, and health care
             providers by promo ng wellness and improving health outcomes. School nurses bridge
             health and educa on to improve each child’s cogni ve, physical, social, and emo onal
             development. School nurses champion the whole student every day of the year; and

WHEREAS:     School nurses rise to the daily challenge of juggling a complex array of medical and social
             issues. School Nurses are healers, comforters, educators, mentors, role models, and
             cri cally needed members in a school district and school community; now

WHEREAS:     On Na onal School Nurse Day, we take special me to celebrate and recognize the
             contribu ons that school nurses are making to the well-being of our district of over 92,000
             students. School nurses lead school health, use cri cal thinking, and collaborate with the
             school community and medical stakeholders while prac cing professionally, ethically; and

THEREFORE: The DeKalb County School District is pleased to recognize school nurses. Be it further
           resolved that we, the DeKalb County School Board and Superintendent, proclaim May 6,
           2026, as Na onal School Nurse Day in the DeKalb County School District.
