Proclamation: Recognition of the DeKalb County School District Adapted Sports Program

WHEREAS, the American Association of AdaptED Sports Programs is dedicated to
expanding access to education-based athletic opportunities for students with qualifying physical
and other disabilities and proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary of service and leadership in
adapted athletics; and

WHEREAS, DeKalb County School District has demonstrated a strong commitment by
offering adapted sports programming that allows students with disabilities to participate in
competitive, education-based athletics; and

WHEREAS, the DeKalb County School District’s Adapted Sports Program provides
meaningful opportunities for student-athletes to compete in sports such as wheelchair basketball,
handball, and football while promoting physical fitness, teamwork, perseverance, and self-
confidence; and

WHEREAS, DeKalb County School District has demonstrated a longstanding commitment
through its consistent participation and sustained support of adapted sports programming,
ensuring that students with disabilities have meaningful access to competitive education-based
athletics; and

WHEREAS, participation in adapted athletics empowers students to represent their school
district with pride, earn varsity recognition, and experience the camaraderie, discipline, and
personal growth that come from being part of a team;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the American Association of AdaptED
Sports Programs in recognition of its 30th anniversary, hereby honors and commends DeKalb
County School District for its continued partnership, consistent participation, and
leadership in advancing inclusive athletic opportunities for student-athletes with disabilities.
