                 CHRONOLOGY OF THE AGENDA ITEM

Scope: Granting an Easement for the Improvement of Distribution Lines at Rock Chapel
Elementary Site – 1130 Rock Chapel Road, for the installation, upgrades, maintenance,
and repair of electric equipment to enhance the reliability of electric service to Rock
Chapel Elementary and other DeKalb residences.

Purpose: The Georgia Power Company is requesting an easement at DCSD's Rock
Chapel Elementary school off Rock Chapel Road. The purpose of this project is to
upgrade electric distribution lines, poles, and equipment to improve the reliability of
electric service to the DeKalb County School District site and nearby neighbors.
Overhead lines in the area are more susceptible to outages caused by trees contacting
the lines or vehicle collisions. Removing trees and other obstructions from the lines and
equipment will help provide the area with better service. The area of the requested
easement covers the part of the site that connects the utility pole to the ground,
ensuring stability and support, as shown on “Exhibit A.” The cost of the easement will be
$6,660.00, paid by Georgia Power Company to the District. It is requested that the Board
of Education approve the easement for Georgia Power Company to enhance electric
service reliability at Rock Chapel Elementary and the surrounding area.
