                    DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                       October 9, 2025

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its emergency called meeting and executive session,
October 9, 2025, in the J. David Williamson Board Room, Robert R. Freeman Administrative
Complex located at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.

Ms. Allyson Gevertz, Vice Chair, convened the meeting at 3:32 p.m. and noted the following
were in attendance; Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., and Mr. Awet Eyasu. Mr.
Andrew B. Ziffer and Tiffany Hogan, Ph.D., participated virtually.

Also in attendance were Executive Director to Board Operations, Ms. Carolyn Lloyd. General
Counsel Attorney, Ms. Melanie Slaton participated virtually.

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
With no objections the DeKalb County Board of Education adopted the agenda for the October 9,
2025 emergency called meeting & executive session.

ADJOURN TO AN EXECUTIVE SESSION
Ms. Gevertz called for a motion to adjourn October 9, 2025, emergency called meeting to an
executive session for the purpose of discussing permitted personnel matters.

On a motion by Ms. McGinniss, second by Mr. Eyasu and with a vote of (6/0), the October 9, 2025
emergency called meeting adjourned to executive session.

Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Board Chair, joined the meeting right before executive session began.
Tiffany Hogan, Ph.D., was unable to participate in the emergency called meeting after executive
session.

ADJOURN THE EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mrs. Pierce called for a motion to adjourn the emergency October 9, 2025 executive session.

On a motion by Mr. DaCosta, Sr., second by Ms. McGinniss and a vote of 6/0, the October 9, 2025
executive session adjourned.

APPROVAL OF AN ITEMS FROM EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce called for a motion to approve the following Action Item(s) which were
discussed in executive session.

   a. Action Item: Placement of Dr. Devon Q. Horton on administrative leave with pay.

       Motion: Ms. McGinniss
       Second: Mr. Eyasu

   b. Action Item: Appoint Dr. Norman C. Sauce III to serve as Acting Superintendent.

Mrs. Pierce asked if there were any objections to adjourn the October 9, 2025 emergency called
meeting and executive session.

With no objections, the October 9, 2025, emergency called meeting and executive session
adjourned at 4:48 p.m.
