                          AUDIT COMMITTEE MEETING
                                   OF THE
                      DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                      September 4, 2025

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its Audit Committee Meeting Thursday, September
4, 2025.

Ms. Allyson Gevertz, Committee Chair convened the meeting at 1:35 p.m. and noted the
following committee members were in attendance; Committee Vice Chair, Mrs. Deirdre P.
Pierce, Superintendent, Dr. Devon Q. Horton, Mr. Joel Thibodeaux, Mr. Byron Schueneman, Mr.
Elijah Palmer, and Community Advisory members, Ms. Cathy Iconis, Ms. Tambria Peeples, Mr.
James Williams.

Ms. Gevertz also noted the following staff members were present, Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Mr. H.
Eric Hilton, Ms. Carla Smith, Mr. Weyman “Fred” Christopher. Board Member Mr. Awet Eyasu
was in person. Board Member Mr. Andrew Ziffer and Hall Booth and Smith Attorney, Mrs.
Mariel Smith attended the meeting virtually.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Mr. Joel Thibodeaux, Executive Director of Internal Audits, presented the purchase card audit.

Mr. Joel Thibodeaux, Executive Director of Internal Audits, presented the Plante & Moran audit
report follow-up assessment.

Mr. Byron Schueneman, Chief Financial Officer, presented the FY25 audit update.

COMMENTS
Ms. Gevertz shared information about the Transition to a Finance Steering Committee.

ADJOURN
Ms. Gevertz adjourned the September 4, 2025, Audit Committee meeting at 2.52 p.m.
