July 16, 2025 virtual policy review committee meeting

                   BOARD POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING

                     DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                         July 16, 2025

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its virtual Policy Review Committee Meeting,
Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair convened the virtual meeting at 12:06 p.m. and noted
the following were in attendance in person, Mrs. Marissa Key, Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Mr. H. Eric
Hilton, Dr. Connie Walker and Ms. Janet Stone. Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr.,
and Dr. Devon Horton, attended the meeting virtually. Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce joined the meeting
in person at 12:12 pm.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, and Mrs. Marissa Key presented the revisions to
Board Policy, EEE: Wellness Policy, and proposed regulation EEE-R(1) Student Wellness
Program.

Ms. McGinniss requested a motion to recommend the revised policy to the full board as a first
read at the August 11, 2025 board meeting. Motion by Mrs. Pierce, second by Mr. DaCosta, Sr.,
and with a vote of 3/0, the motion passed.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS | COMMENTS
Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, informed the public that the next policy review
committee meeting would be to review of any recommendations, board comments, public
comments for Ready for Action or First Read policies and discuss any updates from previous
policy meetings.

She also provided the date and time of the next virtual Board Policy Review committee meeting.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 @ 12:00 pm.

ADJOURN
With no objections, Ms. McGinniss adjourned the July 16, 2025, Board Policy Review
Committee meeting at 1:38 p.m.
