                              JOINT MEETING

                                        May 15, 2025

The DeKalb County Board of Education participated in a Board of Education – Board of
Commissioners joint meeting, Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Board of Education Chair and Mrs. Michelle Long Spears, Board of
Commissioners Presiding Officer called the meeting to order at 11:56am.

In attendance were the following Board of Commissioners: Presiding Officer, Mrs. Michelle
Long Spears, Ms. Nicole Massiah, Ms. Chakira Johnson, Mr. Robert Patrick, Mrs. Mereda
Davis-Johnson, Mr. Ted Terry and Dr. LaDena Bolton. Ms. Lorraine Cochran-Johnson was
absent. Mr. Zach Williams, Chief Operating Officer sat in for Ms. Cochran-Johnson.

In attendance were the following Board of Education Members, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Chair,
Mr. Andrew Ziffer, Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Mr. Awet Eyasu. Ms.
Allyson Gevertz attended the joint meeting virtually.
Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton attended the joint meeting in person.

Also in attendance was Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Executive Director of Board Operations.
