2. FIRST READ: Amendment to the Bylaws & Policies: Rescind of Board Policy CEI: Superintendent Evaluation
Summary: Presented by: Mrs. Marissa Key, Executive Director of Employee Relations, Division of Legal Services
Request: It is requested that the Board of Education accept the recommendation to rescind Board Policy CEI: Superintendent Evaluation lay on the table at the June 9, 2025, Board Meeting for stakeholder feedback until June 20, 2025, and be considered for adoption at a future Board Meeting.
Why: This policy is being rescinded because language related to the Superintendent’s evaluation was included in the proposed Board Policy BBD: Board-School Superintendent Relations.
Details: The rescission of Board Policy CEI: Superintendent Evaluation was presented and reviewed by the Board Policy Committee. The Policy Review Committee recommended rescinding this policy.

CURRENT VERSION
The DeKalb County Board of Educa on shall evaluate and assess in wri ng the professional
performance of the Superintendent at least annually. The evalua on process shall meet the
following criteria:
1. Relate to the discharge of the Superintendent’s du es and to the a ainment of goals,
objec ves, and expecta ons previously developed by the Board with input from the
Superintendent;
2. Provide for a dialog between the Board and the Superintendent;
3. Provide the Superintendent an opportunity to respond to the completed evalua on; and
4. Include the delinea on of any areas of weakness perceived by the Board and provisions for
the Superintendent’s professional development to strengthen those areas.
