May 14, 2025 virtual board policy review committee meeting

                     DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its virtual Policy Review Committee Meeting,
Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair convened the virtual meeting at 12:07 p.m. and noted
the following were in attendance in person, Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Committee Vice-Chair,
Mrs. Marissa Key, Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Mr. H. Eric Hilton, and Superintendent, Dr. Devon Q.
Horton. Board Chair, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce attended the committee meeting virtually.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, stated that the committee would review of any
recommendations, board comments, public comments for Ready for Action or First Read
policies and discuss any updates from previous B policy meetings.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair presented Board Policy BBD: Board Superintendent
Relations.

Ms. McGinniss asked for a motion to recommend the policy to the full board as a first read.
Motion by Mr. DaCosta, Sr., second by Mrs. Pierce and with a vote of 3/0, the motion passed.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair presented Board Policy CEI: Superintendent
Evaluation.

Ms. McGinniss asked for a motion to recommend to the board to rescind this policy as a first
read. Motion by Mr. DaCosta, Sr., second by Mrs. Pierce and with a vote of 3/0, the motion
passed.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair indicated that Board Policy BHA: Board Member
Conflict of Interest would be presented at the June board meeting as a first read.


ANY OTHER BUSINESS | COMMENTS
Ms. McGinniss informed the committee that next set of policies that will be reviewed will be
personnel policies.
She also provided the date and time of the next virtual Board Policy Review committee meeting.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 @ 12:00 pm.

ADJOURN
With no objections, Ms. McGinniss adjourned the May 14, 2025, Board Policy Review
Committee meeting at 1:03 p.m.
