Southwest DeKalb HS Wrestler Amir Ferguson 2025 Recognition

               RECOGNITION
           Honoring Southwest DeKalb High School Wrestler Amir Ferguson

WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County School District is dedicated to developing students academically and
             athletically. Southwest DeKalb High School wrestler Amir Ferguson is committed to working
             hard and representing DeKalb athletics; and

WHEREAS:     Today, we want to celebrate the Southwest DeKalb wrestler Amir Ferguson for his gold medal
             win in the GHSA Class 4A State Championship Tournament in the 285-pound weight class; and

WHEREAS:     Coached by Joshua Bass, Ferguson wrestled his way to four consecutive wins at the state
             championship including an 8-4 decision over North Oconee’s Joe Ruberte in the championship
             round; and

WHEREAS:     Ferguson, a sophomore, finished the season with a 47-2 record. His season included title
             victories in the 2025 William Venable DeKalb County Wrestling Championships, the Region
             4-5A Championships and a State Sectional title; and

THEREFORE:   We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, acknowledge the outstanding athletic
             accomplishments of the Southwest DeKalb’s Amir Ferguson for having achieved one of the
             highest levels attainable by a high school wrestler. In official recognition, we affix our signatures
             on this 12th day of May 2025.
