               RECOGNITION
             Honoring Southwest DeKalb High School Swimmer Pilar King

WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County School District is dedicated to developing students academically and
             athletically. Southwest DeKalb High School swimmer Pilar King is committed to working hard
             and representing DeKalb athletics; and

WHEREAS:     Today, we want to celebrate Southwest DeKalb HS Girls’ swimmer Pilar King for becoming the
             first Panther to win a gold medal at the GHSA Class 4A State Swimming Championships; and

WHEREAS:     Coached by Maria Beal-Parker and Ayesha Epps King swam to the gold medal in the 100-yard
             backstroke with a time of 54.80 trimming 5.67 seconds off her qualifying time; and

WHEREAS:     King also brought home a silver medal in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.25, just one
             second off the state record; and

WHEREAS:     The Southwest DeKalb HS swimmer was also named the DeKalb County Female Swimmer of
             the Year for her accomplishments; and


THEREFORE:   We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, acknowledge the outstanding athletic
             accomplishments of the Southwest DeKalb High School swimmer Pilar King for having
             achieved one of the highest levels attainable by a high school swimmer. In official recognition,
             we affix our signatures on this 12th day of May 2025.
