               RECOGNITION
             Honoring Dunwoody High School Swimmer Luke Sandberg

WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County School District is dedicated to developing students academically and
             athletically. Dunwoody High School Boys’ swimmer Luke Sandberg is committed to working
             hard and representing DeKalb athletics; and

WHEREAS:     Today, we want to celebrate Dunwoody swimmer Luke Sandberg for becoming a four-time
             individual gold medal winner at the GHSA Class 5A State Swimming Championships; and

WHEREAS:     Coached by the Dunwoody swim staff of George Hill, Edmond Gibbons and Sara Reul,
             Sandberg won the state gold in the 200-yard freestyle for the third consecutive season clocking
             his best time at state of 1:38.00; and

WHEREAS:     Sandberg also swam to the gold in the 100-freestyle, an event he finished second in last
             season, with a time of 44.33. Both winning times qualified for All-American times in 2025; and

WHEREAS:     Sandberg completed the state championship competition as a member of the gold medal
             winning 200-yard freestyle relay team and bronze medal as he was named DeKalb County’s
             Male Swimmer of the Year; and

THEREFORE:   We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, acknowledge the outstanding athletic
             accomplishments of Dunwoody High swimmer Luke Sandberg for having achieved one of
             the highest levels attainable by a high school swimmer. In official recognition, we affix our
             signatures on this 12th day of May 2025.
