RECOGNITION
Honoring Stephenson Middle School Boys’ Basketball Team
WHEREAS: The DeKalb County School District is dedicated to developing students academically and
athletically. The Stephenson Middle School Boys’ Basketball Team is committed to working
hard and representing DeKalb athletics; and
WHEREAS: Today, we celebrate the Stephenson Jaguars basketball team led by Coach Torrey Chastine.
The Jaguars captured the DeKalb County Middle School Basketball Championship with a 55-
41 title game win over the Druid Hills Middle School Dragons; and
WHEREAS: Coach Chastine’s team won its first county championship since 2019 while finishing with a 15-1
record on the season; and
THEREFORE: We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, acknowledge the outstanding athletic
accomplishments of the Stephenson Middle School Jaguars Boys’ Basketball Team for having
achieved one of the highest levels attainable by a middle school basketball program. In official
recognition, we affix our signatures on this 12th day of May 2025.
