               RECOGNITION
                 Honoring Towers High School Parent Courtney Guard
WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County School District prioritizes the safety and well-being of all students and
             employees; and

WHEREAS:     On January 25, 2025,, during a basketball game, Towers High School parent Courtney Guard,
             a dedicated parent and member of our DeKalb County community, responded with swift action;
             and

WHEREAS:     Ms. Guard left the gymnasium bleachers to perform life-saving CPR on a Towers High School
             basketball player who collapsed. She performed CPR until first responders arrived; and

WHEREAS:     The heroic actions of Ms. Guard exemplify the true spirit of community and compassion, and
             her selflessness and quick thinking played a crucial role in preserving the life of the student-
             athlete; and

THEREFORE:   We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, celebrate and commend Ms. Courtney Guard for
             her display of courage and leadership in the face of an emergency. In recognition, we affix our
             signatures on this 12th day of May 2025.
