The DeKalb County Board of Education held its virtual Policy Review Committee Meeting,
Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair convened the virtual meeting at 12:04 p.m. and noted
the following were in attendance in person, Mrs. Marissa Key, Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Mr. H. Eric
Hilton, and Board Chair, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce. Joining virtually, were Committee Vice Chair,
Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Ms. Melanie Slaton, General Counsel, Mr. Byron Schueneman, Chief
Financial Officer, Ms. Mariel Smith, Lance McConkey, and Superintendent Dr. Devon Q.
Horton.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, asked Mr. Byron Schueneman to present the review
of board policy, DIB: Financial Reports.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair requested a motion to recommend rescinding board
policy DIB: Financial Reports. With a motion by Mrs. Pierce, second by Ms. McGinniss, and
with a unanimous vote of 3/0, the motion passed.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss provided a status update on the progress of the board b-policy review
committee and took a soft poll to continue the development of policies, BBD: Board
Superintendent Relations and BHB: Nepotism.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS | COMMENTS
Ms. McGinniss provided the date of the next virtual Board Policy Review committee meeting
will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 @ 12:00 pm.

ADJOURN
Ms. McGinniss adjourned the March 26, 2025, Board B-Policy Review Committee meeting at
1:16 p.m.
