Request: It is requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education (“the Board”) approve:
A budget reallocation in the amount of $523,709 from FUND 300 Program Contingency to F300CIP.01430.GENCONTR .4062.
A Change Order No. 1 to Evergreen Construction for the Briarlake ES HVAC and Controls Replacement project that will be funded by the budget reallocation.
Why: Approval of Change Order No. 1 will provide necessary funds for unforeseen conditions, and Owner (DeKalb County School District) requested items as outlined in the Change Order No. 1 documents for Briarlake Elementary School.
Approval of Change Order No. 1 meets Strategic Goal Area 6: Organizational Excellence
Details: On September 11, 2023, the Board of Education approved a firm fixed price contract for RFP No. 23-752-026 to Evergreen Construction, to perform the general contracting work as outlined by the proposal documents.
This Change Order No. 01 covers the approved additional scope for the Owner - DeKalb County School District requested items and unforeseen conditions.

Approval of Change Order No. 1 for expanded scope of work for Owner requested
items and unforeseen conditions to Evergreen Construction for the Briarlake
Elementary School HVAC and Controls Replacement project in the amount of
$523,709.

Background Chronology:
A formal Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued on May 18, 2023, for GC Services for
lump sum construction contract for HVAC and controls replacements at Briarlake
Elementary School, Early Learning Center, Montclair Elementary School, and
Tucker Middle School.
On September 11, 2023, the Board of Education approved the award of RFP 23-752-
026, a firm fixed price contract to Evergreen Construction, to perform the general
contracting work as outlined by the proposal documents.
The approval of Change Order No. 01 covers the approved additional scope for the
DeKalb County School District requested items. It provides further needed
improvements related to safety, security, and health. The additional scope of work
was recommended by the project’s design and construction professionals and/or
requested by DCSD Facilities to fulfill program wide initiatives. The requested
amount of $523,709 is based on the costs provided by the project’s design and
construction professionals.
The approval of this Change Order No. #01 will provide the staff and students at the
Briarlake Elementary School, with a safe and ideal environment for teaching and
learning.
