Request: It is requested that the Board of Education officially recognize the Avondale Elementary School Music Club for its performance at the 2025 Georgia Music Educators National Association Conference.
Why: The DeKalb County School is committed to supporting the continued development of this program and others to maintain and improve music and art programs for all students.
Details: The Avondale Elementary School Music Club Chorale was recently selected to represent the District in a performance for the 2025 Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference

RECOGNITIONAvondale Elementary School Music Club Chorale
WHEREAS: The DeKalb County Board of Education believes music education is an essential component of the
educational system; and
WHEREAS: Music is part of a well-rounded education; and
WHEREAS: Music develops students’ creative problem–solving and critical thinking abilities; and
WHEREAS: The Avondale Elementary School Music Club Chorale, under the musical direction of Mrs. Sheila
Smith, was recently selected to represent the District in a performance before the prestigious 2025
Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in Athens, Georgia. The Avondale
Elementary School Music Club Chorale exemplifies excellence in music education. Their choir
represents the best and the brightest in our District. Their dedication, commitment, and stellar talent
are a testament to the positive impact of quality music education in our schools; and
WHEREAS: The DeKalb County Board of Education is committed to supporting the continued development of
this program and others to maintain and improve music programs for all students; and
THEREFORE: We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, do hereby acknowledge and recognize the great
accomplishment of the Avondale Elementary School Music Club Chorale for their outstanding achievements and
commend the music educators for their efforts to enhance the quality of music education for all students. In official
recognition, whereof, we hereby affix our signatures, this 10th day of March 2025.
