Request: It is requested that the Board of Education officially recognize the teachers, and student participating in the 2025 Georgia All-State Ensembles for Band, Choir, and Orchestra.
Why: The DeKalb County School is committed to supporting the continued development of these programs and others to maintain and improve music and art programs for all students.
Details: Students from the Arabia Mountain High School Band, Chamblee High School Band and Orchestra, Chamblee Middle School Orchestra, DeKalb Arts Academy Orchestra, DeKalb School of the Arts Choir, Druid Hills Middle School Band, Dunwoody High School Band and Orchestra, Lakeside High School Band, Ronald E. McNair High School Band, Ronald E. McNair Middle School Band, Southwest DeKalb High School Band, and Stephenson High School Band, were selected to participate in the Georgia All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra.

Georgia All-State Ensembles for Band, Choir, and Orchestra
WHEREAS: The DeKalb County Board of Education believes music education is an essential component of the
educational system; and
WHEREAS: Music is part of a well-rounded education; and
WHEREAS: Music develops students’ creative problem–solving and critical thinking abilities; and
WHEREAS: Students from the Arabia Mountain High School Band, Chamblee High School Band and Orchestra,
Chamblee Middle School Orchestra, DeKalb Arts Academy Orchestra, DeKalb School of the
Arts Choir, Druid Hills Middle School Band, Dunwoody High School Band and Orchestra, Lakeside
High School Band, Ronald E. McNair High School Band, Ronald E. McNair Middle School Band,
Southwest DeKalb High School Band, and Stephenson High School Band were recently selected
to represent the District in the Georgia All-State Ensembles for Band, Choir, and Orchestra. This
prestigious honor required rigorous auditions assessing technical skill, musicality, and dedication.
Their commitment and stellar talent are a testament to the positive impact of quality music education
in our schools; and
WHEREAS: The DeKalb County Board of Education is committed to supporting the continued development of
this program and others to maintain and improve music and art programs for all students; and
THEREFORE: We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, do hereby acknowledge and recognize the great
accomplishment of the Georgia All-State Ensembles for their outstanding achievements and commend music
educators and students for their efforts to enhance the quality of music education for all students. In official
recognition, whereof, we hereby affix our signatures, this 10th day of March 2025.
