Request: It is requested that the Board of Education officially recognize K-12 national, state, and/or county visual arts contest winners.
Why: The DeKalb County School is committed to supporting the continued development of these programs and others to maintain and improve visual and performing arts programs for all students.
Details: Each year, students are encouraged to participate in local, state and national art competitions. Students from various DeKalb County schools were recognized in these competitions that featured visual arts.

              RECOGNITION
                       K-12 National, State, and/or County Contest Winners
WHEREAS:       The DeKalb County Board of Education believes visual and performing arts are essential components
               of the educational system; and

WHEREAS:       Visual and performing arts are part of a well-rounded education; and

WHEREAS:       The arts develop students’ creative problem–solving and critical thinking abilities; and

WHEREAS:       Students from Dunwoody Elementary School, Fernbank Elementary School, Livsey Elementary
               School, Hambrick Elementary School, Redan Elementary School, Wybrooke Theme School,
               International Community School, Peachtree Middle School, Chamblee High School, DeKalb Early
               College Academy, DeKalb School of the Arts, and Druid Hills High School exemplify excellence
               in visual arts education. Students from these schools have been recognized as national, state,
               and/or county art contest winners. These recognitions reflect technical skill, creativity, and artistic
               dedication. Their success showcases not only their talent but also the strong support and instruction
               from their art teachers and schools. Their dedication, commitment, and stellar talent are a testament
               to the positive impact of quality visual arts education in our schools; and

WHEREAS:       The DeKalb County Board of Education is committed to supporting the continued development of
               the visual and performing arts program and others to maintain and improve arts programs for all
               students; and
THEREFORE: We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, do hereby acknowledge and recognize the great
accomplishments of the students and the schools’ visual arts programs for their outstanding achievements.
We commend the art educators for their dedication and efforts to enhance the quality of visual arts education for all
students. In official recognition whereof, we hereby affix our signatures, this 10th day of March 2025.
