The DeKalb County Board of Education held its virtual Board B-Policy Review Committee
Meeting, Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair convened the virtual meeting at 2:36 p.m. and noted
the following were in attendance, Committee Vice Chair, Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Mrs. Marissa
Key, Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Mrs. Mariel Smith, Ms. Melanie Slaton, Mr. H. Eric Hilton, Board
Chair, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce and Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, asked Ms. Mariel Smith to present the review of the
Policy Committee Charter.

Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Committee Chair, asked Ms. Mariel Smith to present the review of
proposed amendments for board policies BCBI: Public Participation in Board Meetings, BBI:
Board Staff Relations and proposed regulation for BBI.

 ANY OTHER BUSINESS | COMMENTS
Ms. McGinniss summarized key points discussed and presented a calendar of proposed meeting
dates.

The next virtual Board B-Policy Review committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, March
5, 2025 @ 12:00 pm.

ADJOURN
Ms. McGinniss adjourned the February 12, 2025, Board B-Policy Review Committee meeting at
4:32 p.m.
