                            3rd PUBLIC HEARING HB 581
                                      OF THE
                       DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                       February 6, 2025

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its 3rd Public Hearing on HB 581, Thursday,
February 6, 2025.

Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Board Chair convened the in person hearing at 6:04 p.m. and noted the
following were in attendance virtually: Vice Chair, Ms. Allyson Gevertz and Ms. Whitney
McGinnis, Tiffany Hogan, Ph.D., Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., and Mr. Awet Eyasu and
Superintendent, Dr. Devon Q. Horton attended the meeting in person.

Also in attendance were Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Executive Administrator to the Board and Ms.
Melanie Slaton, General Counsel.

Mr. Byron Schueneman, Chief Financial Officer, conducted 3rd public hearing on HB 581
presentation to allow the community to address the board regarding House Bill 581.

Mr. Schueneman opened the Community Input session.
