                                       OF THE
                       DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                       January 22, 2025

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its virtual 1st Public Hearing on HB 581,
Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Board Chair convened the virtual hearing at 10:07 a.m. and noted the
following were in attendance; Vice Chair, Ms. Allyson Gevertz, Mr. Andrew B. Ziffer, Ms.
Whitney McGinniss, Tiffany Hogan, Ph.D., Mr. Awet Eyasu, and Superintendent, Dr. Devon Q.
Horton.

Also in attendance were Ms. Carolyn Lloyd, Executive Administrator to the Board and Ms.
Melanie Slaton, General Counsel.

Mr. Byron Schueneman, Chief Financial Officer, conducted 1st public hearing on HB 581
presentation to allow the Board of Education board members to ask questions regarding House
Bill 581.

This meeting was recorded. There were no speakers at the virtual hearing.

The hearing concluded at 10:58 am.
