Summary: Presented by: Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Board Chair
Request: It is requested that the Board of Education officially recognize February as Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Month.
Why: DeKalb County School District recognizes February as the month to celebrate Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education in all schools. This is an opportunity to support teachers and students and encourage the participation in CTAE pathways.
Details: Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Month exists to:

Deliver real options for ALL students for college and rewarding careers;
Deliver real-world workforce-ready skills;
Deliver real high school experience with added value;
Provide middle grades CTAE students with a successful transition to high school with an actionable plan for next steps;
Prepare ALL students for high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand careers;
Provide students with employability skills; and
Provide students with work-based learning experiences such as internships, co-ops, Youth Apprenticeship Programs, and Great Promise Partnerships.
Financial impact: There is no financial impact to the district.

             P R O C L A M AT I O N
             Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Awareness Month

WHEREAS:      The Association for Career and Technical Education has designated February 1-28, 2025,
              as Career and Technical Education Month (i.e. Georgia’s Career, Technical, and Agricultural
              Education); and

WHEREAS:      Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs in the DeKalb County School
              District provide students with the academic, technical, and employability skills necessary for
              success in the 21st-century workforce; and

WHEREAS:      Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education increases graduation rates and improves
              academic performance through meaningful experiences, thus improving the quality of their
              education, engaging students, preparing them for careers and post-secondary education, and
              giving all students leadership opportunities in their fields and in their communities; and

WHEREAS:      Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education educators in the DeKalb County School District
              are dedicated professionals who inspire and equip students with the knowledge and skills
              needed to achieve their career goals and contribute to the economic growth of our community;
              and

WHEREAS:      Partnerships between CTAE programs in the DeKalb County School District and local
              businesses, industries, and post-secondary institutions enhance the quality and relevance of
              education, ensuring students are prepared for both college and careers; and

WHEREAS:      Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Awareness Month in the DeKalb County School
              District provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and contributions of CTAE
              students, educators, and partners, and to raise awareness of the importance of Career,
              Technical, and Agricultural Education in preparing a skilled and competitive workforce; and

THEREFORE:    Be it resolved that the DeKalb County School District hereby proclaims February 1-28, 2025 as
              Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Awareness Month and encourages all students,
              educators, parents, and community members to recognize and support the valuable role of
              Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education in our schools and community.
