Request: It is requested that the Board of Education recognize National Counseling Week, February 3-7, 2025.
Why: Recognition of National School Counseling Week, February 3-7, 2025, for the DeKalb County School District.
Details: National School Counseling Week 2025, “School Counseling: Helping Students Thrive,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from February 3-7, 2025, to focus public attention on the unique contributions of school counselors within U.S. school systems, and how students are different because of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
Financial impact: There is no Financial Impact on the District.

             P R O C L A M AT I O N
                              National School Counseling Week

WHEREAS:     School counselors are employed in public and private schools to help students reach their full
             potential; and

WHEREAS:     School counselors are actively committed to helping students explore their abilities, strengths,
             interests and talents as these traits relate to career awareness and development; and

WHEREAS:     School counselors help families focus on ways to further the academic, career and social/
             emotional development of their children; and

WHEREAS:     School counselors work with teachers and other educators to help students explore their
             potential and set realistic goals for themselves; and

WHEREAS:     School counselors seek to identify and utilize community resources that can enhance and
             complement comprehensive school counseling programs and help students become productive
             members of society; and

WHEREAS:     Comprehensive school counseling programs are considered an integral part of the educational
             process that enables all students to achieve success in school;


THEREFORE:   We do hereby proclaim February 3–7, 2025, as National School Counseling Week.
