NASBE 2024 Recognition

               RECOGNITIONHonoring DeKalb County School District
WHEREAS:     It shall be the mission of the DeKalb County School District to provide all students with a quality
             education; and

WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County Board of Education believes educating students is an essential component
             of the educational system; and

WHEREAS:     Each year, the National Alliance of Black School Educators recognizes school districts that
             exhibit a strong commitment to culturally relevant pedagogy, high academic achievement
             for Black students, a diverse and inclusive school environment, and a focus on teacher
             development as a demonstration school.

WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County School District became eligible to compete for this honor of a NABSE
             Demonstration District; and

WHEREAS:     School districts across the nation were eligible to apply for this annual recognition. These
             honorees were selected by meeting specific application requirements outlined by the National
             Association of Black School Boards (NABSE), which include detailed information about
             curriculum, student demographics, and school leadership practices centered around equity and
             excellence for Black students; and

WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County School District was selected and named the sole National Alliance of Black
             School Educators Demonstration School District; and

WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County School District was recognized at the national conference in Atlanta,
             Georgia with a commemorative award package; and

THEREFORE:   We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, hereby acknowledge and recognize the
             remarkable accomplishments of our school district for their outstanding achievements. We
             commend the educators for their dedicated efforts in enhancing the quality of education for
             all students. In official recognition whereof, we hereby affix our signatures on this 9th day of
             December 2024.
