Kelley Lake 2024 Recognition

               RECOGNITION
                         Honoring Kelley Lake Elementary School
WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County Board of Education believes educating students is an essential component
             of the educational system; and

WHEREAS:     Each year, the National Alliance of Black School Educators recognizes schools that
             demonstrate a strong commitment to culturally relevant pedagogy, high academic achievement
             for Black students, a diverse and inclusive school environment, and a focus on teacher
             development as a demonstration school; and

WHEREAS:     Kelley Lake Elementary became eligible to compete for this honor of a NABSE Demonstration
             School; and

WHEREAS:     Schools nationwide could apply for this annual recognition. These honorees met specific
             application requirements outlined by NABSE, including curriculum details, student
             demographics, and school leadership practices focused on equity and excellence for Black
             students, and

WHEREAS:     Kelley Lake Elementary School was chosen and named one of only three schools to be
             recognized as a National Alliance of Black School Educators Demonstration School; and

WHEREAS:     Kelley Lake Elementary School was recognized at the NABSE national conference in Atlanta,
             Georgia with a commemorative award package; and

WHEREAS:     The DeKalb County Board of Education is committed to supporting and recognizing the
             achievement of the staff and students in our district; and

THEREFORE:   We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, hereby acknowledge and recognize the
             exceptional accomplishments of Kelley Lake Elementary School for their outstanding
             achievements. We commend the educators for their unwavering efforts in elevating the
             quality of education for all students. In recognition of these achievements, we have affixed our
             signatures on this, the ninth day of December 2024.
