                        DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                        November 1, 2024

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its Virtual Called Meeting, November 1, 2024.

Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Chair, convened the meeting at 1:05 p.m. and noted the following were
also in attendance; Mrs. Vickie B. Turner, Mrs. Anna Hill, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Ms. Allyson
Gevertz, Ms. Whitney McGinniss and Superintendent, Dr. Devon Q. Horton.

Also in attendance was Ms. Carolyn Lloyd Executive Administrator to the Board, General
Counsel, Ms. Melanie Slaton, Dan Baskerville and Edward Lindsey from Dentons. .

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education adopt the November 1,
2024, called meeting and executive session agenda.

On a motion by Mrs. Pierce, second by Ms. Gevertz, and a vote of 6/0, the agenda was adopted.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Mr. Edward Lindsey and Mr. Dan Baskerville representing Dentons led the discussion on the
District’s Legislative Priorities for 2025. The board members narrowed the district’s legislative
priorities down to the following four (4):

       1.   Safety Grants
       2.   Retirement
       3.   Early Literacy
       4.   Mental Health

Mrs. Pierce requested a motion to adopt the legislative priorities for 2025.

On a motion by Mrs. Turner, second by Ms. Gevertz and a vote of 5/0, the legislative priorities
were adopted.

Mrs. Pierce asked if there were any objections to adjourn the November 1, 2024 virtual called
meeting.

With no objections, the November 1, 2024, called meeting adjourned at 2:06 p.m.
