The DeKalb County Board of Education held its virtual Board B-Policy Review Committee
Meeting, Friday, November 1, 2024.

Mrs. Vickie B. Turner, Committee Chair convened the virtual meeting at 10:32 a.m. and noted
the following were in attendance; Ms. Allyson Gevertz, Ms. Whitney McGinniss, Ms. Carolyn
Lloyd, Mrs. Mariel Smith, Mrs. Marissa Key, Ms. Melanie Slaton and Superintendent Dr. Devon
Q. Horton. Board Vice Chair, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce also joined the virtual meeting.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Mrs. Vicki B. Turner, Committee Chair, asked Ms. Mariel Smith to present the review of
proposed regulations for board policies BBE: School Board Attorney, BCBI: Public Participation
in Board Meetings, BDC: Policy Adoption, BBBE: Board Member Compensation and Expenses.
There was also discussion about keeping and making changes to board policy BHC: Board
Member Political.

Mrs. Turner summarized key points discussed and any follow-up.

Mrs. Lloyd provided the date of the next virtual Board B-Policy Review committee meeting will
be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 @ 10:30 a.m.

11:39 a.m.
