Why: DeKalb County School District is requesting to contract with the above referenced vendors for the purchase or resources and installation services for the DCSD Charter Schools to support the GaDOE School Security Grant Program. The selected resources will aid in the charter schools meeting the performance-based objective of improving student outcomes.
Details: The GaDOE has appropriated funds for each district in the State to address security needs and enhancements. To assist with this appropriation GaDOE is providing a School Security Grant of up to $50,000 in reimbursable funds per site for the implementation of such needs and enhancements. The DCSD Charter schools plan to use the funds for security resources including intercom system upgrades, solar lights, security cameras, fencing, and alarm upgrades.
Financial impact: The total budget for the Charter School security grant resources is allocated from the revenue account established for the GaDOE School Security Grant Program in the amount not-to-exceed $426,352.75.

Email Subject: AFY23 School Security Grant -allocation list for DeKalb County/City
GaDOE is pleased to provide additional information regarding the $115.7 million in funding available for school security needs and enhancements included
in the amended FY 2023 (AFY23) budget. Each district has been awarded $50,000 for each school identified and appropriated in the budget by the
legislature to address security needs and enhancements.
Attached you will find an FAQ document that should answer most of your questions. Some highlights from that document are:
1. You must have a budget approved in the consolidated application before you can request funds (you can start that process now)
2. Funds cannot be requested for reimbursement until July 1, 2023
3. Qualifying invoices must be dated March 10, 2023 or later
4. You have a year to spend the funds. Funds expire June 30, 2024, but systems must submit their request in the GaDOE portal no later than March 1,
2024
5. Funds can only be used at the schools on the allocation list (below) created by the legislature
6. Funds are not transferable
7. These grants are provided as reimbursements – districts must make the initial purchase, and then apply for reimbursement through the standard
process
