                      CALLED MEETING AND EXECUTIVE SESSION
                                     OF THE
                       DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                       September 18, 2023

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its Called Meeting & Executive Session,
September 18, 2023, in the J. David Williamson Board Room on the Robert Freeman
Administrative Instruction Complex located at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone
Mountain, GA 30083.

Mr. Diijon DaCosta, Sr., Chair convened the meeting at 2:05 p.m. and noted the following were
in attendance; Mrs. Anna Hill, Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Ms. Allyson Gevertz, Ms. Whitney
McGinniss. and Mrs. Vickie B. Turner, Dr. Joyce Morley attended the executive session
virtually.

Also in attendance were General Counsel Attorney, Ms. Melanie Slaton and Ms. Carolyn Lloyd
Executive Administrator to the Board, and Dr. Devon Q. Horton, Superintendent.

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education adopt the September 18,
2023, called meeting and executive session agenda.

There being no objection, the agenda was approved.

ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. called for a motion to adjourn September 18, 2023, called meeting to an
executive session for the purpose of discussing permitted matters regarding litigation, land, legal,
personnel, and student appeals.

Motion by Mrs. Pierce to adjourn to executive session, seconded by Ms. Gevertz, the September
18, 2023, called meeting adjourned to Executive Session.

       1. ADJOURN THE EXECUTIVE SESSION AND RECONVENE TO AN OPEN
          SESSION
          Mr. DaCosta, Sr. adjourned the September 18, 2023, executive session and with no
          objections, reconvened to an open session.

OPERATIONS

               Item D.1. Mr. Erick Hofstetter, Chief Operating Officer, Division of Operations,
               requested that the Board of Education approve the lease of Evolv Weapons
               Detection for middle and high schools in an amount of $1,586,832.55 to be paid
               for Year 2 of the Lease, not to exceed Year 2: $1,586,832.55.

               On a motion by Mrs. Hill, seconded by Mrs. Pierce and with a vote of (7/0) the
               motion passed.

FINANCE

           Item E.1.a Mr. Byron Schueneman, Chief Financial Officer, Division of Finance,
           Division of Finance requested that the Board of Education accept the July 2023
           Monthly Financial Report.

           On a motion by Mrs. Hill, seconded by Ms. Gevertz and with a vote of (7/0) the
           motion passed.

ACTION ITEM
       a. Mr. DaCosta, Sr. called for a motion to accept the actions, as discussed, in
          Executive Session for Student Appeal #24-12.

             On a motion by Mrs. Pierce, seconded by Mrs. Turner and with a vote of (7 /0).
             The motion passed.

ADJOURN
Mr. DaCosta, Sr. requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education adjourn the September
18, 2023, executive session and called meeting.

Mr. DaCosta, Sr. noted there were no objections, the called meeting adjourned at 3:41 p.m.
