                           AUDIT COMMITTEE MEETING
                                    OF THE
                       DEKALB COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

                                        August 9, 2023

The DeKalb County Board of Education held its Audit Committee Meeting Wednesday, August
9, 2023.

Mrs. Deirdre P. Pierce, Committee Chair convened the meeting at 1:00 p.m. and noted the
following were in attendance; Mrs. Anna Hill, Board Member – District 1, Ms. Whitney
McGinniss, Board Member - District 2, Mrs. Vickie B. Turner, Board Member - District 5, and
Community Advisors, Mr. Dennis Allen, Mr. Russell Fincher, and Ms. Gena Major attended the
meeting virtually.

Also in attendance were Dr. Yolanda Williamson, Chief of Community Engagement &
Innovative Partnerships, Dr. Devon Q. Horton, Superintendent, Ms. Melanie, Slaton, General
Counsel, Mr. Joel Thibodeaux, Director of Audits and Compliance, Mr. Byron Schueneman,
Chief Financial Officer. Dr. Myisha Warren, Executive Director of Federal Programs, Dr.
Tekshia Ward-Smith, Administrator, and Dr. Bernetta Jones, Administrator, attended the
meeting virtually.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Dr. Devon Q. Horton extended greeting and gave a brief overview of the meeting.

DISCUSSION ITEM(S) – Year to Date Updates
Mr. Joel Thibodeaux, Director and Internal Auditor, and Byron Schueneman, Chief Financial
Officer, presented Year to Date Updates to the audit committee.

NEXT MEETING – The next Audit Committee meeting will be held on November 8, 2023.

ADJOURN
Mrs. Pierce requested that the DeKalb County Board of Education adjourn the August 9, 2023,
Audit Committee meeting.

Mrs. Pierce noted there were no objections, the called meeting adjourned at 2:23 p.m.
