School Board Appreciation Week Proclamation 2023

                            ATIIOONN
             PP R O C L A M AT    School Board Appreciation Week
WHEREAS:         It shall be the mission of the DeKalb County School District to provide all students with a quality
                 education; and

WHEREAS:         The school board sets the direction for our community’s public schools by envisioning the
                 community’s educational future; and

WHEREAS:         The school board sets policies and procedures to govern all aspects of school district
                 operations; and

WHEREAS:         The effective leadership of local school boards is imperative for students to become competent,
                 productive contributors to a democratic society as well as to an ever-changing, more complex
                 world; and

WHEREAS:         The school board works with administrators, parents and community leaders to create the
                 educational vision communities want for their children; and

WHEREAS:         The school board members have demonstrated a strong commitment to quality in public
                 education by securing adequate resources, promoting academic standards and fostering
                 partnerships within the community; and

WHEREAS:         Serving on a school board requires an unselfish devotion of time and service to carry on the
                 mission and business of the school district; and

WHEREAS:         All DeKalb County citizens are urged to recognize school board members for their work in
                 ensuring a quality education system and ultimately in helping foster a strong economy;

THEREFORE, I, Dr. Vasanne S. Tinsley, Interim Superintendent, do hereby proclaim March 13-17, 2023 as School
Board Appreciation Week in DeKalb County and do further commend all school board members for their dedication
to the well-being of our students and employees.
