                 RECOGNITION  Honoring Isaiah Scott, Southwest DeKalb Wrestling

WHEREAS:          The DeKalb County School System is dedicated to developing students academically as well as
                  athletically; and

WHEREAS:          Isaiah Scott, a junior wrestler at Southwest DeKalb High School, recently completed the 2023 wrestling
                  season as the Class 4A Traditional Wrestling State Tournament, 215-weight class state champion; and

WHEREAS:          Scott defeated Walnut Grove’s Parker Warren by pin fall (2:40) in the title match to win the gold medal
                  following wins over North Hall’s Kade Hawthorne via pin fall (0:34) in the quarterfinals and a semifinal win
                  of 2-1 over Lovett’s Aiden Kaufman; and

WHEREAS:          The junior also brought home the 215 titles from the DeKalb County Wrestling Championships, the Area
                  6-4A Wrestling Championships and the Class 4A State Sectional Championships; and

WHEREAS:          Scott, known as one of Southwest DeKalb’s wrestling “Four Horsemen” finished the season 31-0 overall
                  in leading the Southwest DeKalb Panthers wrestling team to a third place finish in the GHSA Class 4A
                  Traditional Wrestling State Championships; and

THEREFORE: We, the DeKalb County Board of Education, do hereby acknowledge the great athletic accomplishment of
Southwest DeKalb High School’s Isaiah Scott having achieved one of the highest levels attainable by a high school wrestler.
