Honoring Ms. Zepora Roberts Proclamation 2023

WHEREAS:     DeKalb County Board of Education and the DeKalb County School District joins the family in
             celebrating the life of longtime friend, colleague, and fellow Board member, Ms. Zepora Roberts;
             and

WHEREAS:     Ms. Zepora Roberts was elected to the DeKalb Board of Education in January 2002: and

WHEREAS:     Upon being sworn in, Ms. Roberts served as a representative in District 7 for eight years; and

WHEREAS:     During her tenure on the DeKalb Board of Education, Ms. Roberts was a tireless champion for
             children and a pillar in the DeKalb County community; and

WHEREAS:     Ms. Robert received the Pillars of Power Award and was named as an “Unsung Hero” and “Living
             Legend” by the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) chapter of the My Sister’s Keeper program
             in 2022; and

WHEREAS:     Ms. Roberts was devoted to her work with the Georgia Head Start Association Program; and

WHEREAS:     Ms. Roberts was also active in the NAACP DeKalb County branch for many years, serving as
             education chair and vice president; and

WHEREAS:     Ms. Roberts is survived by her three children: Gregory Roberts, Chanda White, and Tracey
             Roberts, three sisters, and six grandchildren; and

THEREFORE:   Ms. Roberts continued to serve as a community volunteer to support the vision, mission, and
             goals of the DeKalb County Board of Education and the DeKalb County School District; now

             We, the DeKalb County Board of Education and Interim Superintendent, on behalf of the DeKalb
             County School District, do hereby acknowledge the noble career of Ms. Zepora Roberts, for her
             dedication and service to the children of DeKalb County School District.
