i. E-SPLOST V Project: 344-35 Approval of Amendment No. 1 for Architectural Services for the Midvale Elementary School Major Building System Replacement(in the amount of $178,450)

Request: It is requested that the Board of Education approve an amendment to the architectural services contract for E-SPLOST V Project 34435 Midvale ES to include scope approved at the October 2022 Board meeting, namely replacing the HVAC system.
Why: To provide the Midvale ES facility with further needed improvements related to safety, security, and health and to fulfill program wide initiatives
Details: At the October 2022 Board meeting the Board approved adding ‘replacement of HVAC system’ to the scope of E-SPLOST V Project 34435 Midvale ES this amendment would cover the additional design cost associated with the added scope of work.
Financial impact: The total amount of $178,450.00 for BRPH Amendment No.1 will be allocated from the cost code E-SPLOST V Project 34435 Midvale ES (cost code: SP5FACCON. 34435.ARCHITECT).

CHRONOLOGY OF THE AGENDA ITEM
After the May 24, 2016, approval of the 2017—2022 E-SPLOST V referendum by DeKalb voters, the Board
approved an E-SPLOST V list of projects on December 5, 2016, for $561 million to include various capital
renewal, renovation, and classroom addition projects throughout the District.
On March 15, 2021, the Board approved the award of RFQu No. 21-752-016 for Professional Architectural
and Engineering Services for DeKalb High School of Technology and Midvale Elementary School to BRPH.
On October 18, 2022, the Board approved the additional scope of HVAC system replacement for SPLOST
V project 344-35 at Midvale ES.
This amendment to the A/E’s contract will cover the added cost for design related to the SCL increase
necessary to include the previously approved scope.
