Fall to Spring
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
District Average RIT Scores
The RIT (Rausch Unit) Scale
• MAP Growth measures student performance on a RIT scale.
• Like centimeters on a ruler, the RIT scale measures in equal intervals, regardless of a student’s grade or performance.
• The RIT scale measures student achievement, so it allows educators to measure growth through the year.
Teachers use RIT scores to:
• Identify common opportunities across an entire class
• Inform instructional planning
• Help guide decisions about appropriate scaffolding strategies
• Set growth goals with students
• Connect to instructional resources aligned to student RIT scores
