About this data

This explorer uses data published by GOSA, the Georgia Governor's Office of Student Achievement, an independent state accountability agency. GOSA collects performance, staffing, and financial data from every public school in Georgia and publishes it annually. It is not part of the district; it is the state's independent scorekeeper.

The metrics here are the same ones the state uses to evaluate schools, determine federal accountability status, and calculate school report card grades (CCRPI). When the DeKalb school board discusses closing a school for efficiency or performance reasons, these are the numbers they're talking about.

Several metrics are tracked under ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), the federal law governing K-12 public education accountability. ESSA requires states to report on chronic absenteeism, teacher qualifications, and other equity indicators.

Data covers 2017–18 through 2024–25. Some metrics have gaps for 2019–20 due to COVID. Source: download.gosa.ga.gov.
