Every student, teacher, visitor, or other person in the DeKalb County School District shall wear appropriate industrial-quality eye protection equipment at all times while participating in or observing vocational, industrial arts, chemical, physical, or any other course of instruction involving exposure to any of the following:

Molten metal or other molten materials;

Milling, sawing, turning, shaping, cutting, grinding, or stamping on any solid materials;

Heat treatment, tempering, or kiln-firing of any metal or other materials;

Gas or electric arc welding or other forms of welding process;

Repair or servicing of any vehicle;
-
Caustic or explosive materials;
-
Finishing materials and solvents; or
-
Injurious radiations or other hazards.
Each school shall provide eye protection equipment to every student, teacher and visitor while using or observing machines or operations as enumerated above.
Each school shall keep eye protection equipment that is clean, in good repair, durable, and capable of being disinfected and that meets the requirements specified in “Practice for Occupational and Educational Eye and Face Protection,” American National Standards Institute, Z87.1-1968. Use of equipment with structural or optical defects shall be prohibited.
A person whose vision requires the use of eye glasses shall be provided goggles that can be worn over corrective spectacles without disturbing the adjustment of the spectacles.
Each school that uses lasers in classrooms and laboratories shall register such lasers with the Georgia Department of Human Resources and adhere to the Rules and Regulations for Laser Radiation, Chapter 290-5-27, Georgia Department of Human Resources.
