This regulation explains the application of Board Policy JBCC: Student Assignment to children of full-time employees at DeKalb County School District. It also clarifies who the policy does not apply to, and which programs are not included in the employee preference.
Limitations Policy JBCC does not apply to:
- Pre-K programs
- Part-time employees
- Employees' relatives
- Magnet or specialty schools and programs
Availability Use of this policy depends on whether there are available seats at the school and grade.
Timeline Employees who want to use the JBCC policy must apply through the school choice application within 30 days of being hired or every year during the district's employee open enrollment period. After the enrollment period, the school choice office will not accept any more employee-student transfers. If a full-time employee’s child is offered enrollment in a program, the district will not provide transportation.
