The procedures written in the DeKalb County School System’s Accelerated Guidelines shall be followed to determine if a student meets requirements for each of the accelerated choices found in Policy IHEB. Each choice is defined with support structures, support personnel roles/responsibilities and considerations. Appropriate flow charts, forms, checklist, parent consent letter and accelerated waiver form are found as accelerated resources in the guideline document.
An annual evaluation will be conducted by the Department of Research and Evaluation of each acceleration choice that was implemented by the members of the school-based Acceleration Review Team. The purpose of the evaluation will be to determine if the guidelines in the policy have been useful in facilitating a program of acceleration for students and to recommend appropriate changes to improve instruction delivered through the selected acceleration choices. A summary report on the effectiveness of the acceleration policy and acceleration choices shall be submitted to the Superintendent prior to the next school year. This report, following approval by the Superintendent, shall be distributed to the Board of Education.
