The senior student with the highest cumulative grade-point average will be designated as the senior class valedictorian. The senior student with the second highest grade-point average will be designated as the salutatorian. These designees shall be determined after first semester grades have been posted to student grade histories. If there is an exact tie for the highest or grade-point average, co-valedictorians will be identified. Similarly, if there is an exact tie for the second highest grade-point average, co-salutatorians will be identified.
Only a student enrolled full-time in a DeKalb County School District high school for the three consecutive semesters immediately preceding the student’s graduation date may be eligible for valedictorian/salutatorian recognition. Any student who transfers more than 5 units from a school that is not accredited in accordance with State Board Rule 160-5-1-.15 Acceptance of Transfer Credit and/or Grades and DeKalb Board of Education Policy JBC(4) Transferring Credits will be ineligible for valedictorian/salutatorian status.
