In accordance with DeKalb County Board of Education Policy GBRI, employees returning from an approved Extended Leave of Absence may be considered for reinstatement in the same, previously held position if:
-
Acceptable medical documentation is received by the Human Resources Division, thirty (30) days prior to the employee’s return to work, verifying that the employee is fit to assume the required duties of the position;
-
The employee possesses all the skills and the qualifications required for that particular position; and
-
A vacancy exists in the previously held position.
If the same, exact position is not available, the employee may be offered a position one or two levels below his/her previous status/category, provided a vacancy exists in such status/category, for which the employee is qualified.
After receipt of a request to return to active employment, reinstatement with the DeKalb County School District will be considered for up to six (6) months or the duration of any contractual obligation. Reinstatement, however, is not guaranteed. After six (6) months or at the end of any contractual obligation, the employee will be required to re-apply for available positions online at www.pats.dekalb.k12.ga.us.
