Contracts with DeKalb County School District (“District”) employees are for the rendering of service for a specified term. A contracted employee cannot resign without breaching his or her contract, unless there is a mutual agreement between the employee and the DeKalb County Board of Education (“Board”). A contracted employee who is denied release from his or her contract and refuses to return to the District is in breach of his or her contract.
The Board authorizes the Superintendent or his or her designee to accept, on behalf of the Board, resignations from employment by any employee. The Board shall be notified of the resignation(s) at the next regular or called meeting after the resignation(s) has been tendered and accepted by the Superintendent, if not sooner.
