Solicitations
The Board of Education seeks to provide the best educational opportunities possible for students. Experiences
contributing to the achievement of this objective are regarded favorably as a part of a total education program. The
Board of Education recognizes that tax funds alone are not likely to cover the entire cost of co-curricular and
extracurricular activities and other enrichments and resources that enhance, round out and support the prescribed
educational program. Fundraising activities often help cover these additional costs. The Board of Education also
recognizes the potential educational value in school/community interaction and cooperation and the need for funds
to operate school-sponsored organizations.
The DeKalb County School District, its departments, individual schools, Parent Teacher Associations/Parent Teacher
Student Associations (PTAs/PTSAs), booster clubs, and other school support groups may conduct fundraising
activities to support the approved budget and may cooperate with organizations in raising funds. No fundraising
activity may remove or distract students from classroom instruction. Participation in any fundraising activity must be
voluntary for students, parents and employees.
All fundraising activities benefiting a school shall be approved by the principal. All fundraising activities benefiting
departments shall be approved by the Superintendent or designee. All fundraising activities benefiting the district-at-
large shall be approved by the Board of Education. Fundraising activities must comply with state, local, and federal
laws and associated regulations as well as administrative regulations and procedures established by the Board of
Education or Superintendent.
